Teaching & Mentoring

Graduate Teaching Assistant · Wayne State University

Aug 2021 – Present

I have taught programming in C++, Java, Python, and R, written course materials, run lab sections, and mentored student software teams. Most of my teaching is hands-on: worked examples, programming practice, and feedback on student projects.

Teaching recognition · 2026

Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant Award

Department of Computer Science, Wayne State University · April 16, 2026

Recognized for dedication to student learning and engagement, innovative teaching support, and exceptional support for CSC 3100 in recent semesters.

Course Experience

What I did in each course, all as a Graduate Teaching Assistant.

  • BE 1600 · Python Programming

    Teaching in Fall 2026

  • Problem Solving and Programming (C++)

    Created all course materials

  • Java Programming

Developed and delivered course materials and final project

  • Software Engineering

Mentored student teams through Agile projects

  • Computer Architecture and Organization

    Led the lab section

  • Bioinformatics Programming Lab with R

    Facilitated hands-on labs

Teaching Approach

I tie explanations to code that students write themselves, and I ask them to explain their design choices. Course materials introduce an idea, labs give students practice with it, and final projects are where they use it on their own.

Project Mentoring

In Software Engineering, I mentored student teams through Agile projects, from planning and implementation to testing and delivery. I worked as a software engineer for almost five years before my Ph.D., and I draw on that when giving feedback.

Contact

I'm looking for faculty positions where I can do security research, teach programming, and mentor students.
